About Me
Hello! My name is William Daughtry. I am currently an anchor and reporter for Access North Georgia in Gainesville, Georgia. I was a journalism major at the University of Georgia and minored in English. I grew up in Townsend, Georgia, a rural town in southeast Georgia.
I have been at Access North Georgia since May 28, 2024 and in that time I have built contacts within the northeast Georgia community that helped me expand both my written and visual stories. I was named a Georgia Association of Broadcasters (GAB) Class of 2026 Rising Star as well as an award finalist for other GABBY awards. I will update this page when I know if I won those awards and what they were for on Sept. 19, 2026.
I strive to write and be a voice for the people no matter what my coverage is. I took that in stride with my first internship with The Current, contributing stories in the summer of 2022. I also did an internship with WGRZ-2 in the summer of 2023 and shadowed reporters, wrote web stories, and did practice standups and packages and followed that up with taking Grady Newsource in the Fall of 2023, UGA’s broadcasting class. We did live, 30-minute shows on Mondays and Wednesdays and had to switch roles including enterprising stories, producing, anchoring, and working with the digital side of the newsroom.
My interests include video editing, writing and storytelling. I was also accepted to the University of Georgia’s school paper, The Red and Black, in March of 2022 to write for the sports desk. This paired with my Grady journalism classes have all shaped me into becoming a coherent writer and a hands-on journalist.
This all shows I have experience doing stories for newspapers, online papers, television, and radio outlets.
Throughout this website you will see my visual, audio, and written work. Thank you for taking an interest and visiting my website.
